There are many ways for you to lend a helping hand with our programs:
Time, Money, and Food (and non-food):

Volunteering: Current volunteer opportunities are limited to at-home pantry pack builds for The Children’s Lunchbox. Email for details and instructions.

Monetary donations can be made securely online as a one-time or recurring gift or mailed to 1020 E. 4th Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99501. Please do not send mail to our 3rd Avenue address. We also have a Donate button on our Facebook page.

We are accepting food donations for Bean’s Cafe AND The Children’s Lunchbox every day, between 9 am – 4 pm at 1101 E. 3rd Avenue.

Our greatest food needs for The Children’s Lunchbox are:

  • Pasta: Shells, Macaroni, Bowties, Etc.
  • Sauces and Seasonings: Alfredo, Spaghetti Sauce, Italian Seasoning, Garlic, Taco Seasoning, Etc.
  • Fruit and Veggies: Canned Fruit, Fruit Cups, Fruit Leathers, Canned or Frozen Veggies, Beans, Etc.
  • Shelf-stable milk.
  • Canned Tuna and Canned Chicken.
  • Cereal Boxes or Individual Cereal Cups, Granola Bars.
  • Snacks: Wheat Thins, Triscuit, Cheez-It, Gold Fish Crackers, Boxes, or Individual.
  • Shelf-stable breads.
  • Wheat or Flour tortillas.
  • Sunflower Butter, Almond Butter, Jam, Jelly (any flavor is fine)
  • Ziploc Bags. (Snack size too)

Our greatest food needs for Bean’s Cafe:

  • Ground Sausage
  • Sausage Links
  • Beef Roast
  • Pork Roast
  • Ground Beef
  • Sandwich Meat Turkey, Chicken, Ham or Roast Beef
  • Vegetable Frozen or Fresh
  • Onions

These wish lists include the most commonly needed and requested items in our programs. Don’t have time to drop off donations? Bean’s Cafe Food Wish List: Our number one needs are always coffee,  proteins fresh fruit and vegetables, hot chocolate, and toilet paper. However, click the link above to see our full, updated list.

Food Donations

Bean’s Cafe and The Children’s Lunchbox rely heavily on the donation of food items to serve the thousands of hungry adults and children in Anchorage. We are able to receive a variety of different types of foods, with a few restrictions

What we can accept

  • Canned Goods
  • Food prepared in a commercial kitchen 
  • Fresh Fruits & Vegetables
  • Pre-packaged food items purchased at the store
  • Whole or unprocessed meats

For example, moose roast but not moose sausage, unless it is professionally processed. Whole salmon but not smoked or canned, unless done professionally.

What we cannot accept:

  • Home-made food items
  • Opened food items (such as a box of cookies that may not have been fully eaten)
  • Left-over food items (such as remaining food from a conference or barbecue).
  • Spoiled food items
  • Items not prepared in a commercial kitchen
