The Empty Bowl Project is an international project to fight hunger, personalized by local artists and organizations on a community level. The fundraiser raises awareness on thousands of individuals who’s bowls remain empty everyday.
This event has brought together over 1,400 Alaskans who come to enjoy soup and cornbread prepared by the chefs and clients at Bean’s Cafe, hand crafted bowls donated by the community, a silent auction, and most importantly learning about our mission of feeding the hungry in Anchorage. This is a grass roots event that helps raise money for Bean’s Cafe and The Children’s Lunchbox and reminds others of all the empty bowls in our community.
In order to raise awareness for this event, it starts with the bowls. We wouldn’t be able to host this community wide event without our inspiring, creative and authentic BOWL artists. Thank you to Turnagain Ceramics, Alaska Woodturners Association and Eagle River High School for your continued support and donations of bowls.
