Held in Alaska since 1994, this event has brought together over 1,000 Alaskans each year as a grassroots initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds to combat hunger and remind everyone about the empty bowls in our community. Local artists and community members create and donate handcrafted bowls. Attendees pay a ticket price, which includes soup and cornbread, live entertainment, kids activities and more! You can take home a unique, handcrafted bowl as a reminder of those in need.

In order to raise awareness for this event, it starts with the bowls. We wouldn’t be able to host this community wide event without our inspiring, creative and authentic BOWL artists. Thank you to Turnagain Ceramics, Rabbit Creek Studio, Alaska Woodturners Association and Eagle River High School for your continued support and donations of bowls. We’re so excited to have you all a part of this year’s Empty Bowl Project.

2026 sponsorship information will be available soon. If you would like to be part of the 2026 Empty Bowl Project, please contact Kate Matheson at kmatheson@beanscafe.org
